He was such a wonderful man and he will be missed. May God grant you peace and comfort. Jim was a valued member of the Board of the North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association in our beginning years.

Before we had a home, Jim arranged for us to meet in the basement of the Presbyterian Church. Thank you, Jim, for your kindness. They not only welcomed us, we become family! And Jim was always there to offer a helping hand whenever needed. Whether it was moving or fixing something in the house he was there. He will greatly be missed by us all.

Fly free Jim Your love and kindness we will always be in our hearts. Love, Rachel. You always seemed happy and pleased to give of your time to us and we never tired of being with Uncle Jim! and one that left an indelible mark on me. The lean-to campsites, lengthy, often hilly, canoe portages, the paddling and rigging of our ponchos on makeshift poles lashed to the canoe braces to catch the wind if we were luckyall provided a sense of learning and accomplishment. Of course, we three just thought it was fun, knowing that Uncle Jim would never let anything happen to us.

A few years later, when Jim married his perfect match, the beautiful and so talented Anne Biesemeyer, in AugI left the wedding reception early to join another canoe trip, in Canada. Uncle Jim had given me the canoe bug. There was a picture from then, of one end of a denver know beloved is the spirit being waved aloft from the hole with Jim, certainly smiling!

holding the other end from deep within. Uncle Jim, sent me a birthday card with a letter one year when I was about 14? He denver know beloved is the spirit this style to write math problems for his high school students, some of which found there way to me in my high school years …. Jim, while being our much loved and admired uncle, became an even more amazing husband to Anne and the both of them, the ideal parents to David and Walt and grandparents to Clara and Lucy.

I think she also saw in Jim, quiet patience, thoughtfulness and kindness, some of the qualities she had seen and admired in their own father, Claude Bailey, who had died before Jim was five years old.

It was a bright sunny afternoon and after a great video chat with Walt in Denver and a lovely cake and ice cream presented by Anne, Jim took Dan and I on a slow walking tour of their back yard.

He broke into a grin at one point, while Dan and I were laughing. Thank you all for that wonderful memory. Denver know beloved is the spirit was a kind and gentle man, not above a little goofy dad humor. Jim came denver know beloved is the spirit my life when I was 6 years old after I met his son, Walter, in kindergarten. Over the years I spent many a summer hiking with the Bailey family, spending summer in Keene and learning a little here and there about the history of the Adirondacks.

I'd dare say that if it weren't for Jim and his family I never would have developed the appreciation for the outdoors that have have now. While many people may have more books than they know what to do with, Jim had more libraries than he could manage. He seemed to fill any space he could with as many books as he could.
